Over the years, there have been over 100 different kinds of Doritos. Many of these flavors have been discontinued, but there are still 17 varieties to choose from, from the healthier options like Simply Organic Spicy White Cheddar Flavored Tortilla Chips to the intense but delectable options like Jacked Ranch Dipped Hot Wings or Dinamita Chile Limón Flavored Rolled Tortilla Chips.
And, now, here’s another sounds-crazy-but-also-really-really-intriguing Doritos flavor to add to the list: Doritos Tangy Pickle.
Now, we know what you’re thinking … didn’t Doritos already do a pickle flavor? To that, we say, wow — you really know your Doritos! But that flavor was only available in Canada, so stateside fans were out of luck.
No longer. Frito-Lay is rolling out Tangy Pickle Doritos across the country. Some eagle-eyed shoppers have already discovered the new flavor at Dollar General, as reported by the junk food lovers at Instagram account @theimplusivebuy), who also posted the find to their website and Twitter.

So what do the Tangy Pickle Doritos taste like? Canadians say that the previously-available iteration, Intense Pickle Doritos, were the perfect blend of salt, vinegar and pickle. (For what it’s worth, a hardcore fan of Intense Pickle Doritos made a Change.org petition to beg Doritos to release the flavor again in Canada, calling them “amazing beautiful chips.”)
We don’t know if the American spinoff will be similar to their Canadian counterpart, but we expect these Doritos will also have an intense pickle flavor.
Word is that these Tangy Pickle Doritos are only going to available at Dollar General and Circle K, and only for a limited time at that. So, if you are a pickle-lover or you love a pickle-lover, then you better scoop up a bag before it’s too late. The chips range from $4.29 (for a 9.75-ounce bag) to $1.89 (for a 2.75-ounce bag).
You might also enjoy other new pickle-flavored finds, like Zapp’s Voodoo Batter Fried Pickles, which are available at Walmart. It’s the perfect blend of pickle flavor with Zapp’s iconic Voodoo flavor chips as the crispy batter.
Or you could jump on the pickle bandwagon in other ways. Buy some pickle-flavored vodka from Chilled Dills. Get some pickle-flavored lip balm. Make yourself a pickletini or bake up some pickle cupcakes to eat with those Doritos.
No wonder it is estimated that the global pickle and pickle products market will reach $15 million by 2026. All hail the mighty pickle!
