Delivery Storage Bench Locks To Keep Packages Safe Until You Get Home

If you’ve ever had a package stolen from your porch or have worried it may happen when you’re having something valuable delivered, you might want to check out an inconspicuous solution Sam’s Club is selling: a storage bench that doubles as a delivery vault.

The BenchSentry Smart Contactless Delivery Vault looks like a bench but protects like a safe. It works by using the tracking numbers on your packages to unlock for delivery drivers.

All you do is enter the tracking codes for your upcoming deliveries. When drivers get to your house, they will see instructions on the keypad and hear an audio message prompting them to enter the last four digits of that delivery’s tracking code. Once entered, the bench will unlock to receive the package and then closes to keep deliveries secure until you’re ready to get them. You can manage and review your deliveries, as well as lock and unlock your bench, from your phone.

Any grocery or delivery service can make deliveries to the bench as long as they have the code. You can even create a custom four-digit code for friends and family so they can pick up or leave packages, too.

The bench is selling on Sam’s Club’s website for $399. You will need a membership to purchase one, and you can only buy two per account. Shipping is free for Plus Club members.

If you don’t have a Sam’s Club membership, you can buy the bench directly from BenchSentry, but it is a bit more expensive at $449 instead of $399. If buying directly, you will be able to choose the color, however, as it also comes in tan on their website, and they offer free shipping.

Other companies are making security benches as well, including Bench Box, which is even simpler to use as it does not require codes. This one works simply by locking automatically after a package has been placed inside. It’s not available yet, but you can join a mailing list to be notified when it is.
