Not like you need convincing that Dairy Queen treats should be enjoyed beyond summer, but the soft serve chain did just announce a lineup of seasonal blizzards that are perfect for fall.
DQ has been offering limited-time blizzards that are synced with the seasons. Some soft-serve hits on the most recent summer menu, for example, included S’mores, Cotton Candy, Frosted Animal Cookies and Oreo Cheesecake Blizzards. Now, with autumn approaching, Dairy Queen has been creatively infusing classic fall desserts into its blizzards, introducing new blizzards and bringing back some fall favorites.
Think: A Pumpkin Pie Blizzard that really redefines the whole concept of à la mode, with real pumpkin pie pieces swirled into vanilla soft serve and crowned with whipped topping. It even gets a sprinkle of nutmeg on top. This one is a returning classic.
The menu became available at participating locations on Aug. 31. Offering fall flavors mixed into ice cream is a perfect compromise for those who love all things autumn, but can’t quite pull out the sweaters because temperatures are still hot in September.
In addition to the return of the Pumpkin Pie Blizzard, a brand new treat is here: the Caramel Apple Pie Blizzard, which is a combo of apple pie pieces, soft caramel bites and DQ soft serve with a whipped topping. Another newcomer to the menu this fall is the Oreo Mocha Fudge Blizzard that combines Oreo cookie pieces, coffee and chocolate chunks.
If you’re a DQ devotee you might recognize a few favorites that have returned to the fall menu this year, including the Snickerdoodle Cookie Dough Blizzard, Brownie Dough Blizzard and Choco Dipped Strawberry Blizzard.
In addition to the blizzards, Dairy Queen is also selling scented candles that match the flavors of the menu. The collection includes a set of six 4-ounce candles that will be available for sale here at 3 p.m. EST on Sept. 3. (Warning: the sweet scent of the candles just might induce some cravings). Your entire $25 purchase will be donated to Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, a Dairy Queen charitable partner.
