Get your tea and crumpets ready. Jim Carter, the actor who plays the iconic butler Carson in “Downton Abbey,” confirmed that fans can look forward to another film adaption of the PBS hit period drama.

Producer Gareth Neame has talked about a possible sequel to the 2019 film before, which has left fans wondering when — and whether — it would all come together.

“We’re working on what the story is, and when we might be able to make it,” Neame told The Hollywood Reporter in 2019. “But it’s the same as the first time around: We have to try to get everyone back together again. And that was very challenging.”

Now, that sequel is less theoretical and much more real. On a recent interview on “This Morning,” a British daytime talk show, Carter revealed that Downton’s actors had received scripts for the sequel.

“If you promise not to tell anyone, I’ll let you know that we’ve seen a script,” Carter said. “The script for a second film is there. We’ve seen it, it’s very funny!”

Carter went on to say that he hopes filming for the new sequel can begin next year, but he mentioned this could depend on COVID-19.

The “Downton Abbey” film was hugely successful, earning $31 million on its opening weekend, even knocking out top contenders like Brad Pitt’s film “Ad Astra,” and many critics gave the film warm reviews.

Many fans are wondering if Dame Maggie Smith will make an appearance in the sequel, as her character was very ill in the original film and her on-screen death seemed imminent.

As for stars like Michelle Dockery, who plays Lady Mary Crawley in the series, she is currently set to star in the new Netflix series “Anatomy of a Scandal.” Much like the PBS show, “Anatomy of a Scandal” (which is based on the novel by Sarah Vaughan and created by David E. Kelley) follows the many trials and tribulations of the British elite, except during modern times.
