Dwayne Johnson Sings ‘You’re Welcome’ To His Daughter At Bedtime—and He Shared An Adorable Video Of Their Routine

“Rock-A-Bye Baby” is not the preferred bedtime song of Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s 2-year-old daughter, Tia. No, she prefers her daddy singing the rap section of “You’re Welcome” from the Disney movie “Moana.”

Johnson, of course, portrays the character of the Polynesian demi-god Maui in “Moana.” But Tia hasn’t made the connection between her daddy and the demi-god yet, according to The Rock. She just wants him to keep singing one of her current favorite tunes.

“And for the 1,927th time I will sing ‘You’re Welcome’ to baby Tia as part of our nightly daddy/daughter negation [sic] to go to bed!” Johnson wrote in an April 26 Instagram post. “But truth is, spending all this time at home with my ladies has been a real silver lining blessing in this craziness we’re all experiencing. And for the record, she still has no idea that her daddy is actually, ‘Maui’ from Moana. 😂🤷🏽‍♂️”

Johnson gets through the fast-paced lyrics like a pro, which makes extra sense if it’s his umpteenth time singing it for Tia. He did, however, change the last line to “It’s time for Tia to go to bed!”

If you want to see another rendition of Johnson singing “You’re Welcome” to his toddler, here’s one from a time they watched “Moana” together.

“She has no idea, we’re the same person. And I have no idea what day it is anymore, but I am sure it’s one that ends with Y,” Johnson jokes. “To all the mama and papa bears out there going thru it — we understand. 24hr parenting.”

Adorable little Tia’s “You’re Welcome” obsession dates back to at least early April, when Johnson posted an Instagram video where he coaches her through a proper hand-washing routine timed to the song’s rap portion. She knows just when to chime in, as you can see below.

Besides Tia, Johnson and his wife, Lauren Hashian, also have a 4-year-old daughter, Jasmine, aka “Jazzy.” Johnson’s eldest child is 18-year-old daughter Simone from his previous relationship with Dany Garcia.

And lest you forget, The Rock is also a proud papa to French bulldog Hobbs, seen below in another recent @therock Instagram post. Hobbs and his human have been enjoying quarantine walks, or at least Johnson has since he said a tired Hobbs needed to be carried back home on a recent sojourn.

Every parent of young kids can relate to singing “that song” for the millionth time to their children. It’s fun to see The Rock and his daughter do that too.
