Matthew McConaughey Hosted Virtual Bingo For A Senior Center

Over the years, actor Matthew McConaughey has proven himself to be a pretty stand-up guy. There was that time he handed out frozen turkeys on his birthday, and his stint chauffeuring students around as part of a campus safety initiative at the University of Texas. And he’s a pretty good sport about spontaneous interactions with fans, too, even when they ask him to utter his famous catchphrase: “Alright, alright, alright.”

In fact, Buzzfeed calls him “the most wholesome man on the planet.” And now, during the time of the coronavirus quarantine, McConaughey has found another way to help out, give back and delight his fans of all ages. He recently hosted a virtual bingo night for a senior facility in his home state, Texas.

This past weekend, McConaughey and his family helped call bingo at The Enclave at Round Rock Senior Living, which is in Round Rock, Texas. Here’s a Facebook post showing how residents were obeying social distancing guidelines from their rooms while enjoying the game through their electronic devices:

The center also posted a video of the event on Facebook, showing the “Angels in the Outfield” and “Magic Mike” star with his family from what looks like a kitchen, announcing two winners.

The post reads, “Thank you to Matthew, his wife Camila, and his mom Kay for hosting our residents for a few rounds of virtual bingo! Our residents had a great time playing, and they loved talking with Matthew about his family heritage and his favorite drink.”

McConaughey’s children, Levi (11), Vida (10) and Livingston (7), look like they’re also getting into the game.

The residents of the facility even thought up a great way of thanking McConaughey for his appearance. In doing so, they referenced a Twitter video he posted last month, in which he said, “There is a green light on the other side of this red light … I believe that green light is going to be built on the values that we can enact right now, values of fairness, kindness, accountability, resiliency, respect, courage.”

In this video from the senior living center, a worker there says, “We want to continue to turn a red light into a green light,” before the residents thank McConaughey and hold up their messages to him, all of which are written on green poster board signs.

How sweet! This is the type of celebrity sighting that follows all the quarantine rules and still puts a smile on our faces.
