Are you over the dog days of summer yet? If you’re looking forward to flannels, boots, falling leaves and all things pumpkin spice, we have some good news for you: Starbucks is rolling out their pumpkin spice latte soon, and they might be making it available earlier than ever.
Honestly? We deserve it.
After an unbelievably difficult year, it appears that Starbucks is helping to make our lives a little spicier and a little sweeter by putting their PSL on the menu next week … by the looks of it, that is. Every August, Starbucks tries to keep the PSL launch date under lock and key, and every year, someone seems to let the date slip.
Here’s what we know so far: A Starbucks store in California touted the release date as Aug. 28 on Instagram, then took the photo down. Meanwhile, Insider obtained an internal Starbucks memo that says the PSL’s impending return to the menu will happen on Aug. 25.
And Twitter user @thelonevirologi shared a picture of a chalkboard at a Target Starbucks in West Ailis, Wisconsin, that is counting down the days until PSL is within our grasp once again. The photo posted on Aug. 19 reads “PSL countdown 6 days!!” So, Aug. 25?

If the launch is Aug. 25, this will be the earliest Starbucks has ever let us get our hands on a pumpkin spice latte.
In 2019, it launched on Aug. 27. Starbucks celebrated by saying “It’s officially PSL season!” on Twitter:
The NEW first day of fall is… today! It's officially PSL season! ð #PumpkinSpiceLatte pic.twitter.com/usLI9kywW6

In 2018, Aug. 28. From 2015-17, the PSL launched in the first week of September. The earliest date so far was 2014, when it launched on Aug. 26.
Whenever it happens, let’s just say that people on social media are here for it, saying we need this season to be over already.
Dear @Starbucks – feel free to start adding Pumpkin Spice Latte early to the Fall menu…..bc 2020! NYC is ready ðâ¨ð

Because, maybe, just maybe, if the PSL is back, it marks the beginning of the end of an awful year?
I’m not craving a pumpkin spice latte for the taste, I’m craving it because it means 2020 only has a couple months left to go.

In addition to the pumpkin spice latte, Starbucks is also putting other fall favorites back on the menu, including their beloved pumpkin scone and pumpkin cream cheese muffin. And let’s not forget the pumpkin cream cold brew. Made with Starbucks’ cold brew (or nitro cold brew), then sweetened with vanilla syrup and pumpkin spice and topped with pumpkin-flavored cold foam, this ice-cold drink is the perfect way to toast autumn even when it’s still 90 degrees out.
You can also look for the return of the salted caramel mocha next week. Coffee and steamed milk are combined with mocha sauce and toffeenut syrup, then topped with whipped cream, caramel syrup, sea salt and turbinado sugar.
Dunkin’ got ahead of Starbucks with their fall lineup of pumpkin-spice offerings this year, launching on Aug. 19.
Here’s to enjoying your pumpkin spice coffees and muffins and browsing Target’s new Halloween offeringswhile pretending that summer 2020 never happened.
