This Video Of Tom Hanks Reading Nice Tweets Out Loud Will Put A Smile On Your Face

There’s a lot of negativity out there in the Twitterverse. The old adage, “If you can’t say anything nice, don’t say anything at all,” doesn’t seem to apply. It’s too easy to bring someone down with a cutting comment, and it can be done anonymously, which makes it even easier to unleash the hatred.

But Twitter isn’t all bad, and we have proof in the form of Hollywood legend Tom Hanks. In a video shared the day before Thanksgiving, the “Forrest Gump” star got together with Twitter Movies to read aloud some of the sweetest tweets they could find.

It turns out, there are some pretty kind people on Twitter!

The first tweet the 63-year-old actor read was from a former McDonald’s employee, who revealed that during the time he worked for the fast-food giant, he secretly added an extra nugget to each order of the 10-piece Chicken McNugget meal.

“That is a man who’s not only being nice, but he’s feeding the world a little bit better,” Hanks said. “And [he’s] bucking the corporate strategy. Bravo! That’s a nice thing to do!”

The final tweet was by a woman who shared another food-related gesture of goodwill.

“Told this guy who sits next to me in dental class about how I skip lunch just to get to class on time and the next day he pulls out a hot chicken shawarma out of his bag for me saying he doesn’t want me to be hungry is he in love with me yes or no?”

Hearing Hanks read out nice tweets was the highlight of many people’s days, and they left comments revealing just how much they loved it.

“Okay, can we please have this become a regular thing?” one user wrote, while another posted, “Tom Hanks is at least a 14/10 tbh.”

The video has been watched more than 8 million times and the tweet it was featured in has been liked about 50,000 times since Nov. 27, showing people just can’t get enough of Hanks reading kind messages.

“This is the only content I want to see on the internet,” commented someone else. We couldn’t agree more. Bring on the kindness.
