You And Your Besties Can Stay In Vintage Campers At A Scenic Vineyard

If you’re dreaming of a unique vacation where you and your besties can enjoy the outdoors, drink wine, and disconnect, all while surrounded by beautiful California wine country scenery (after this pandemic is behind us, of course) — you’ll want to check out The Trailer Pond.

This collection of five vintage trailers is positioned on the edge of a pond in the vineyards of the Alta Colina Winery in Paso Robles, California. It’s the perfect retreat for stepping back in time and enjoying the outdoors, though you’ll have modern amenities within a short drive.

Here’s what your accommodations would look like, according to @thetrailerpond’s Instagram page. Nice, right?

Each trailer is beautifully restored from the 1950s or ’60s and features one double bed that can sleep up to two comfortably, as well as a mini kitchen. Although the trailers don’t have bathrooms, there is a shared bathroom and shower area on the property.

Here’s the inside of the pink-striped one, called the 1959 Terry:

You should note that although there’s a stove pictured here, you’re not allowed to cook inside. Instead, there is also a communal cooking area with a large farmhouse table where you can dine al fresco.

The trailers can be individually booked, starting at $250 a night, or you can rent out all five of them as a group. A basic weekend renting out all the trailers costs $3000, but you get the run of the 130-acre winery and a group wine tasting.

A more inclusive package costs $600 per person and includes catered farm-to-table meals and a happy hour. You can build in some optional activities, such as a movie at sunset and wine-blending classes. You can even have more trailers and tents brought in if you need to accommodate more than 10 people.

Since there is no wifi at The Trailer Pond, it’s a perfect opportunity to disconnect from work and and go on a social media break. Fortunately, there are plenty of things to do here. Since the trailers are nestled in the vineyards of Alta Colina, a wine tasting excursion is just a short hike across the property.

You can also arrange to take a yoga class, have a massage, go on a tour of the grounds, or enjoy swimming or kayaking in the pond. Plus, there are over 200 other wineries in the Paso Robles area to explore, including some that offer free tastings, and the downtown area is a 15-minute drive away.

One other important thing to note: No one under 21 is allowed to stay at The Trailer Pond, and pets aren’t allowed, either. So, it’s strictly an adults-only vacation destination.

If you like the idea of these cool camper vans in a vineyard, you can also find some other interesting places to set up for the night.

For example, the Hotel Luna Mystica in New Mexico is an RV and tent campground that also includes 19 vintage trailers you can stay in, all with a gorgeous view of the Mesa of Taos. It also happens to be across from the Taos Mesa Brewery. Here’s an image from their Instagram:

There’s also the Junebug Retro Resort, about 12 miles outside of Asheville, N.C.. It features 10 vintage trailers and a luxurious bathhouse near the beautiful Blue Ridge Parkway.

The Asheville Van Life Rally was held at the June Bug Retro Resort in Weaverville, North Carolina. The property was just beautifully landscaped and very well-managed, and offered a large variety of canned ham style (and larger) vintage travel trailers that you can rent. It was nice to see such a large nomadic crowd gathered here, along with plenty of day-pass spectators who came together to share ideas, van builds, dreams. This would be a cool place for a wedding or family reunion or friends get-together. ❤ #junebugresort #ashevillevanliferally2018 #northcarolina #vintage #vintagetrailers #cannedham #vanliving #vanlivingillustrated #festival #weddingvenue #northcarolinawedding #junebugretroresort

And The Vintages Trailer Resort offers 35 old-school trailers in the heart of Oregon wine country in a 14-acre park.

Can you imagine yourself spending a weekend at The Trailer Pond, or at one of these super-cool vintage trailer parks?
